Worked all day on AV schedule. Had printer problems and fought the 2500C all morning. Still cannot solve tray issue. Downloaded firmware- can't tell what version it is-- decided to wait for Susan to come back before I flash it. Got trapped in limbo again, can't get started on emanual. Problems in koldus 111 with DHCP, turns out all Koldus is static?? Confused, need to research and go to school with JTB and Jason tomorrow. Lessons Learned: Koldus has static IPs, no DHCP, no gateway available. Ideas: Internet connection training for AV. Need a curriculum and lesson plan. Get with NK on new software idea. Projects: Focus on Grocery DB. Research Grocery shopping services. Need to hone Access skills and punch through the dead sopt. Tonight: Go grocery shopping with James. MUST DO SURVEY TONIGHT! Tomorrow: AM, Finish AV schedules. Run to stores. Get AV internet training figured out with JTB. Then, afternoon plan on surveying with Al. If not tomorrow, then Thurs or Fri next week. Send BB an email about new Palm. Possible tablet? Need some kind of portable computing power before the fall. This Weekend: Sat AM storage, laundry Sat PM work, still need sitter. Sunday... Austin? Worked on AV manual Worked on emergency manual. Found stuff for girls to do. Lunch at 12:30 Copied in music, researched tagging. Got with JTB on schedule changes. Sent email to DG, LS. finished AV manual updates. Radio problem report updates. Lessons learned: I should probably find a way to structure ( not schedule) my workday better. I need to file more. Ideas: Want ad for Timmy. There is some more MP3 related stuff banging around inside my brain, but it won't come out. Radio reports need to be printed and filed, or indexed somehow on the computer so I can reconcile them when the radios come back. Projects: File. Emanual. Pat's DB would be cool, but gotta finish GroceryDB soon. Tonight: Show? Or just home with James? Tomorrow: Gotta produce. Manual, then Emanual draft, then maybe music and files! Can't determine how best to get student workers to work. If they aren't able to perform the duties of a job (too small, I'm a girl, I can't lift that), and the crew does not want you on a call because you stand around, and then you sit in the breakroom all day, they crew is naturally going to resent you. That means Billy wants you to do something, and that means I have to find you something to do. Now, if you don't have keys, anything in the spaces means I have to let you in, find you the tools, show you how to do it, explain that I wan't it done right and then leave you to do it. Most jobs worth doing only take an hour or so, so then you're right back at my desk looking for the next thing. I don't trust you with the big projects because your work ethic sucks and I'm not convinced you will do a complete job. Worked on GRW drawing for Caedmon's Call all morning. Also took care of some surplus paperwork for Billy. New timecards for Carl, Ben and Allan. Jen went home early today-- I took her home at 10 and had my lunch too. Managed to make contact at Pacific Laser, they sent me the manual for our PS1. John's radio and the other SP50 came back from TX comm. Lessons Learned: Figured out how to color code outlook appointment labels. Also setup auto shortcut for work blog. Ideas: Central Outlook calendar workarounds. Programmatically fill from Database? What about a portable PC? Can I draw on the job? How does autocad work in the touchscreen environment? Projects: AV sched converter, Work blog automation, and also semagic autostart. Still working on Grocery DB. Can I cram Pat's contact DB in before the crush hits? Tonight: Email pictures to Mom. Goal to work on Grocery DB. Tomorrow: Make a list of dates for Outlook- when do bills get taken out? When should I set reminders to look at budget? Still can't find a way to copy from Acrobat on to clipboard. Reload MM on work machine. More transfer and retag. This weekend: Storage? Working on Saturday night. - posted by Chris @ 5:02 PM Edit
Had some difficulty yesterday-- some student workers convinced the AV guy to let them into the Auditorium, and JW came in and caught them at it. Student workers are kind of useless anyway, but they continue to work here through the generosity of BB. AV guy is a different story-- Nick is a super guy who seems disenfranchised... did we miss an opportunity somewhere? He's leaving for law school, so it's not like we can bring his aboard on the Rudder wayward stagehands plan, but we did offer to make him lead AV guy in Jeff's wake, for two months or so, but BB didn't think that it was wise to promote and give a raise for that short a period. I think Nick's nose got bent a little, but I told him not to put forth any extra superhuman effort, and just do the regular job until it was time to go. Nick has some personal issues in the mix too, but I honestly think we did something wrong. I will ask him how he feels before he leaves to try and get a handle on what happened. - posted by Chris @ 12:19 PM Edit
