Got in early for convocation. Everything went smoothly, although it would be nice to have a holder for the Mace when it is away from its base. Asked Matt if he would think about it. Whois Bob, met through EdAd gang. Felt comfortable about being high profile for the first time in a long time. Used portacool at tent, could have used another, but they smell really bad. Need water inside Cushing, they forgot this year. Went directly to Duncan for CCA fish fry Don and Julie Crawford simplified things and cut the speaker, just Don, the General, and John Huffman. Yell leaders, then the war hymn and that was it for sound. We were home by 8:30. Need to examine ways to do sound in Duncan better, that show has too much crowd noise to effectively cover both sides. Ron Beard wants to talk w/ BB about upgrading Duncan sound system. Told him I would have BB call him. Thursday, August 26, 2004
In theatre for PanHell and then in Aud for FOW scholarship/academics briefing. Did some filing. TW has a discipline problem. Need to jump AM for taking chairs out of the Aud. Get BB to buy them camp chairs or sit on red ones, don't take office chairs out of the spaces. Wednesday, August 25, 2004
Worked in the office most of the morning- BFMEM diagram is not lining up exactly as I would have liked. Left at 4pm to do GRW show for vball and soccer Meet the Team. Lessons learned: 9' screens don't always stay up. Work on a fix for GRW projection. Tomorrow: Changed to Aud for afternoon show so Pat can set up convocation in Theatre. Tuesday, August 24, 2004
Tuesday: All day in the Theatre, did not get much else accomplished. Fixed a couple of typos in the AV Manual, and met Jason, a new AV guy. Need to decide whether bringing AV guys straight in from outdoors is the best idea... I would not mind having them spend some time on the regular crew before they came across. Then again, if they learn bad habits on the regular crew, then that is not such a good idea. Things I learned today: Charles Glover is Corps public Relations officer. D-2 Dr. Anne Bloom OPSA vet med dental presentation: kill podium light (she wants to be able to see the audience). Karen Hudson is also OPSA Tonight: Grocery? Planning. Tomorrow: Find what's best to do this week and do it, BFMEM? Monday, August 23, 2004
Saturday: Came in early and worked with Al on BFMEM survey. I think I got enough points to draw some of that stuff in. Did FOW Orientation setup in Duncan, 900' of pipe and drape. Sunday: Struck Duncan pipe and drape in half hr. Worked evening address by Commandant to the fish. Jason and I got together and did Static IP setup at Koldus, it works, now I need to write it up and get it in the heads of the AV guys. Talked at length with Jarrett Hervey re the job, he says it's like a self cleaning oven, you are your own boss and nobody ever bothers you until you screw something up. If you do, everything heats up until the problems are solved and then you can go back to normal. Monday: AV problems-- Industrial Distribution in 701, problems in International Students Orientation in the 224-212 rooms. ID got squared away, need to keep a length of VGA and a turnaround in their closet. Need to note which set of keys fit the ID closet. When to set them up. Wireless mic. Talked with JTB about how to keep cool under fire, how to avoid getting behind or making stupid mistakes (preparedness) and how to shake it off when something goes wrong. Don't chase dumbass with more dumbass. Jarrett's last day, he will be back around Thanksgiving, he came in to help JTB with closets and get Josh squared away for tomorrow morning. Got new staff id. Lessons learned: Limit on email attachments is around 3-4mb. Nate and Jay say it's no big deal, but I could swear it was larger a while back. Ideas: Some kind of organizer in my top drawer. Need to find out how to make bookmarklets and write javascript. Projects:Found another reciept for Grocery List. Wanted to address the problem with AVMedia conversion-- multiple rooms on one AV event. Also, why does my schedule maker not automatically attach to email. AND WHAT IS UP WITH COPY FROM PDF? Tonight:Mom computer stuff. grocery? need to shop. Can I find the pin for mom's card? Tomorrow: OPSA and NSC Conferences all day. Get a laptop from BB in the morning? This weekend: Working FOW FishFry Friday night till 10, but off Saturday and Sunday. Up early and hit storage if weather is good on Saturday. |
