Eventful day, most everything went well but there was a lot of ruckus at the NPHC after party. Leaders in Freshman Engineering show went well, opportunity for fish engineers to hear G. Kem Bennett speak, and they included some entertainment as well. Nastasha Witt? was organizer. Percussion Studio did their short show, and met Tara Henderson and Tim Thornton. Nicole is the blonde food service girl w/ob. Gaby Joslyn is new night manager, and Ryan is big dude ex-football player. Need to draw up plan for NPHC dance, but they may not be doing it again anytime soon-- the Aggie Nights people swiped ID's and gave out wristbands, and the only control we provided was checking wristbands and door duty. Dave Salmon left before dance started, Sherry Wine and Bob Abraham never showed up. I worked with Steve, and Tammi Cunningham and Roderick from multicultural services was there with one other guy. J-que showed up around 9, and there was rally noone there until NPHC yard show let out. Guess maybe 500 were in the room when a fight broke out, Travis Lively tried to break it up, but they would not leave and kept scuffling, so Travis pulled the plug and we shut the dance down about an hour early. Football players had just shown up, but I don't think they were involved. We go to go home a little early. Worked with SH and it went pretty well, I'm glad that he was there if only so we didn't have to explain it to him later. Key points: No cops in dance, need Bob's guys or some other (multicultural services??) to police inside of dance. If not, things get out of hand and boil out, and cops HAVE to handle it. Salmon should have been there, if only so his student worker did not have to bear the brunt of that event. ID check needs to be tighter, Steve said that they have wristbands just lying around and people were picking them up. It was a good thing they had us there to monitor. Put Al at other end of hallway behind gray wall. Put JR outside west doors to 227, Jones at serpentine lounge, Steven and Adam near east doors to 224. All unlocked, no reentry dictated by ushers, no signage. Thursday, September 02, 2004
Thursday- can't remember if I was late or not, either way it was not too bad. Went with BB to diagram the Public School of Rural Health dedication, staked out the digging pit and drew a diagram. Worked on AV stuff all day in preparation for meeting at 5:30. Updated manual and printed several copies. Came up with agenda and list of things to talk about. Jason made the observation that someone in the Architecture department may be able to provide a better diagram of the BFMEM site. Walked to Duncan with JM to see cable broadcast of Utah game. Will that be a regular thing?? Wednesday, September 01, 2004
Messed up and incurred the wrath of BB this AM, when I came in 15 mins late, they were already jumping about AV radio freqs and what the hell and who the hell and etc. I think that was the only issue, but I will check with BB this afternoon before I leave to be sure. Got filing put away, but not sorted. Got AV schedule, changed, then twice more, then done. (another thing BB was upset about) Got stagehand meeting stuff figured out. Got booth PC's remapped to Z: new path is \\sefdocs-1\presentations, login sef\usern Cleaned up and copied NSC crud. Redrew EH zone club 12th man drawing. Worked on BFMEM drawing, found some inaccuracies, and wondering about accuracy of measurements. Will approach BB about redoing shots with transit (and alex jones...) maybe Sunday morning early? Followed the early morning with the following tasks: dusted off stagehand meeting notes and updated them worked on filing drew lettermens game day in GRW pat sent me drawings for exhibit hall to convert for 12th man game day worked on radio issue- drove out to TX Comm, now JW should call with frequencies so that they can ensure the radio is programmed correctly. Papa John's parker is GMC sonoma champagne color 3KN H98. Call if he comes back. Weber returns. Need to get with him on projects. Got Jason Milliken on the schedule. Had some difficulty with BetterBlogThis, and had to allow popups for it to work. Don't know why. 8am helped SS put up Student Life "Rev's Info Station" in the MSC. We had night guys stub it out on right side of hall, and JM came over to let us know that we had it on the wrong side. He helped us move it. Found out that the TELEX mic that JTB removed from 701 is indeed their mic (it doesn't say RTC on it). Need to find clip for mic- it is not with the pile. I will have JTB return this to 701 closet today. Monday, August 30, 2004
AM- hung volleyball banner. Will need 4' of 1.25" diameter dowel, screweyes (med size) Gold chain (like the stuff in my desk) and four skinny quicklinks (pat has these) Nicopress, clamps chain cutters and tape. We had discussed that next year we would hang a new position at the south end and move them all down one, but maybe we can get away with one more year at the north end. Jason stopped in, I have a schedule with his information on it, but I need JTB to make decisions about when to schedule him. He is supposed to have SS card overnighted, and should be able to work by the end of the week. Janie is doing estimated time, so maybe don't start him until later? or make sure he knows he won't see a paycheck for a while? Or should we estimate his time the first week he is here? SS having parking problems, I recommended she get a bike. She got a 122 today, need to determine who still needs one. SS recommended finding ways to promote ownership in the job and keep everyone active. Lessons learned: can't link to university job search pages. Need to find another way to do this. Pat has BFMEM site on visio, don't know if it will help. Bill gave us Cosby tickets, probably true that I can't use them, but she can! Tonight: Steaks? What is up with Grocery, and do I need to do bills more? Probably might do both if I got my act together. Tomorrow: 15 Early to help SS. Need to make another trip to TComm to have them fix fixed AV radio. Use this one for reference when looking at AV media jobs.New York University Media Services Technician |
