Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2006 11:53:06 -0400 To: sdd27@cornell.edu From: Chris Westling Subject: delegate and educate Scott: Just an aside to you: In tearing up the conference season, I'm finding that there are situations where if I had a couple of green students along on the more difficult conference activities, check-ins, etc., I could be teaching some important skills that next year's returning students might benefit from: I'd like to start stacking up the conference check-ins with two extra individuals, so that we can all learn together. Even if we split shifts around, I'd like to have more than we need, especially since we won't have very many opportunities to expose every student to the wild and crazy check-ins-- there really won't be that many this year. Likewise, it's probable that Tony can do his Sports Camp stuff with a small staff, but I'd like to see all of our students rotate through that process, so they know what it's about. Donna told me today (all verbal, but I'll work on getting it in writing) that we recognize that we need to spend some money on overtime for the students. Yesterday was a good example of a day where a) I could have used the help-- we need to ALWAYS put two people on a cash box. b) I could have demonstrated how to handle large lines and keep your customer service game face on c) I might have demonstrated for students how to be prepared for any eventuality, especially with full-service conferences Let's think about ways to staff up more often. I know we need to preserve the bottom line, but I think we need to show these guys how to do the job, too. Thanks! Chris Tuesday, September 19, 2006
no way to show masterbilled housing vs. AP housing on invoice.; We only add housing expense and then housing income-- difference is supposed to be masterbilled amount. This is bad when housing issues force a change and you can't reconicle MB hosuign properly. No way to show properly which attendees were masterbilled housing. Existing FM report with $0 for AP is confusing and inappropriate. NEed a list of only those attendees who are masterbill with a number total and a dollar total at the bottom. Housing reports include a Check In column which appears to have bad information. Not sure why this was important, Monday, September 18, 2006
